Attorney Profile
Christopher Steele Carey, Esq.
Christopher Steele Carey is the founder of The Carey Law Firm, a Florida law firm focused on first-party property insurance claims. For the past six years, Christopher has represented homeowners, business owners, and other policyholders in disputes with their own insurance companies involving hurricane and storm damage, roof claims, water losses, fire claims, denied and underpaid claims, coverage disputes, and other residential and commercial property losses.
Christopher founded The Carey Law Firm to give Florida property owners something the large claim mills often do not offer: direct access to an experienced attorney who remains personally involved in the case and is readily available to his clients.
Christopher earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, cum laude, from the University of Florida, where he also interned for U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. He later earned his Juris Doctor on scholarship from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, interning along the way with Cohen Law Group and the Public Defender’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit.
Christopher began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender, where he represented more than 1,000 indigent clients and served as first-chair counsel in numerous jury trials that proceeded to verdict. That experience gave him a litigation foundation that continues to shape the way he handles insurance disputes today: prepare every case to be litigated, understand the evidence, and never rely on an insurance company to do the right thing simply because it should.
After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Christopher devoted his practice to first-party property insurance litigation. He has since represented more than 1,500 Florida homeowners and businesses in property damage claims and helped recover more than $18 million from insurance carriers on their behalf. Prior to founding The Carey Law Firm, he litigated property insurance claims at one of Florida’s leading property damage law firms, where he consistently ranked among the firm’s top-performing attorneys and developed an undefeated record against insurance carriers’ motions for summary judgment.
Christopher’s practice has included both residential and commercial insurance claims, including hurricane and wind losses, roof damage, water losses, fire damage, denied and underpaid claims, and complicated coverage disputes. He combines aggressive litigation experience with a practical approach to resolving cases efficiently and believes that the best result is not necessarily the case that takes the longest—it is the result that makes the most sense for the client.
Christopher started The Carey Law Firm on a simple idea: Florida policyholders deserve the same level of preparation, strategy, and advocacy that insurance companies bring to every claim, along with greater access to and communication with the attorney handling their case.
Outside the office, Christopher is a lifelong sports fan who roots for the Florida Gators and Pittsburgh Steelers. When storm season hits Florida, he understands firsthand what is at stake for the homeowners and business owners he represents.

Our Mission
Insurance companies have lawyers from the first hour. So should you.
After a storm, the policyholder is the only party in the room without a team. Our purpose is simple: level that imbalance, and hold carriers to the coverage they sold.
Contingency Representation
You never pay out of pocket. Our fee comes only from a recovery, which keeps our interests aligned with yours from the first call.
Direct Attorney Access
Your case is not handed to a case manager. You speak with the attorney handling your file, and you get straight answers.
Willing to Litigate
Carriers settle fairly when they believe a file is trial-ready. We prepare every claim that way from day one.
Florida Knowledge
Florida policy language, statutory deadlines, and post-storm adjusting practices are their own discipline. That is the work we do.
